The Mountain View bicycle tours are based at the Historic Mountain View Inn Mountain View Innnear Latrobe Pennsylvania. The Mountain View Inn, a Historic Hotel of America, is nestled in the Laurel Highlands of Western Pennsylvania. It is located 4 miles west of Latrobe and 4 miles east of Greensburg on Route 30. Built in 1924, Mountain View Inn has provided superb lodging and dining in the Laurel Highlands for over 75 years.

From the Inn you can see Chestnut Ridge Mountain to the east. We will be riding in valley just west of the mountain and occasionally on the it's lower slopes.



 Day One:

We meet at the Mountain View Inn on route 30 just west of Latrobe PA. Plan to arrive around 3:00 pm. A welcome packet will be waiting on you at the inn. At 5:30 pm we will get together for a Mountain View Inn Lobby brief meeting on bike safety. If you are using one of our rental bikes we will setup the bike for you. Later at 6:30 pm we will get together at the Gianilli's II Restaurant for a great meal and conversation. Gianilli's is just 300 yds up route 30 from the Inn.

After dinner there will be a little time left for a social meeting at the 33rd Street grill and lounge at the Inn.





 Day Two:

We start in the morning with breakfast at 7:30 am. Our ride for the day will start at 9:00am and will take us out south and east toward Chestnut ridge.Chestnut Ridge View We will wander through rolling farmland along the base of the ridge. Later on the ride we will climb up the lower slopes of the mountain and we will see some great views along the way. After about 23 miles we will stop at the Stone Villa Wine Cellars for a box lunch and some wine tasting. After lunch we will continue our ride along scenic rolling country roads. Mountain View Inn By the end of the ride we will have traveled about 40 miles. After the ride you will be able to relax at the pool, have a drink at the lounge at the Inn, shop at the westmoreland mall (just a mile from the Inn), visit some of the other local attractions or just rest until dinner.


The day will wind down around 6:30 pm with a terrific dinner at the Everett’s Mediterranean Grill at the Inn.




 Day Three:

We start in the morning with breakfast again at 7:30 am. About 9:00 am we leave the Inn going east. In a short while we will pass St. Vincents College and Basilica. St Vincent Archabbey Our ride will travel north along Chestnut Ridge in rolling farm country. While there will be no significant climbs on the ride the roads do go up and down most of the ride. After about 20 miles we will have made our way to the lunch break where we will have a box lunch and pit stop. After the lunch break we will continue along many country roads that provide you will a great riding experience and many great views. We will stop at the Saint Vincent Archabbey Gristmill. The Saint Vincent Archabbey Gristmill, built by Benedictine monks, has been in continuous use since 1854. The Gristmill has a coffee house that is a great way to experience the gristmill atmosphere. After the coffee stop we will continue the few miles back to the Inn.

If you are on the three day tour, a room will be available to shower and dress before goodbyes and heading home. For those on a four day tour the day will wind down with another terrific dinner at the Everett’s Mediterranean Grill around 6:30pm.


 Optional Day Four:

As usual breakfast will be available at 7:30 am. At 9:00 am we leave the Inn starting out with a long Twin Lakes downhill run. You will wind your way along mostly level roads as we pass twin lakes park. Our ride will continue through rolling farm lands as we work our way west from the Inn. We will have our lunch break at the Historic Hannstown village. Historic Hannstown Village After lunch we will contine past many farms on rolling country roads. As we work our way back to the Inn we will stop at the Twin Lakes boathouse for a short break and pit stop. By the time we arrive back at the Mountain View Inn we will have traveled somewhere around 38 to 45 miles. A room will be available for everyone to shower and dress before goodbyes and heading home.
